Some grocery manufacturers have entered an incorrect value in D8173 preparation state.
This is because the keyword "PREPARED" or "UNPREPARED" used during import from MS Excel, or the text "Prepared" or "Unprepared" when directly entered in fmcgProducts, can easily be misinterpreted.
GS1 has now addressed this issue by implementing the following correction:
"Unprepared" has been changed to "Product as sold"
"Prepared" has been changed to "After preparation"
(the underlying keyword values "PREPARED" or "UNPREPARED" remain the same)
In general, ALL products sold in the grocery trade should be indicated as "Product as sold" (UNPREPARED)!
"After preparation" (PREPARED) should only be selected if the packaging specifies the nutritional content WHEN the product is prepared, meaning when it requires additional preparation.
