How to build a case, display or pallet

A base unit is created from Create, New base unit. This article is the step after that: the units above the base.

Build upwards. Open the unit that will sit inside the new one, then create the parent.

  1. Open the base unit, case or display, and leave edit mode. Create is hidden while you are editing.
  2. Choose Create, then the next unit for the same target market. The menu only lists unit types that can sit above the unit you have open.
  3. Enter the GTIN of the new unit and choose Continue. The check digit is checked, and the same GTIN cannot be created twice for that target market.
  4. fmcgProducts fills GTIN of the next lower unit (D8249) with the GTIN of the unit you started from.
  5. Enter Quantity of the next lower unit (D8270). This is how many of the lower unit are in the new case, display or pallet.
  6. Fill in the rest and choose Save.
  7. Repeat from the new unit until the top of the hierarchy exists. A typical hierarchy is base, then case, then pallet.

To change D8249 later, you can search by GTIN, item number or item name. See New Search Option for GTIN, Item Number or Item Name When Selecting Contained Product (D8249).
