How to calculate a field only in some cases

A calculated field can stay editable until a check is true. When the check is true, fmcgProducts fills in the value and the field cannot be edited. When the check is false, the value you entered is kept.

  1. Open Setup, then Fields.
  2. Open the field and choose Edit.
  3. Under Values, use a block named Own.
  4. Under For, tick Base unit, Case, Pallet, or more than one. Case also covers an inner pack and a display.
  5. In If this condition, enter the field id that the check reads, for example D8255.
  6. In matches this, enter the comparison, including the operator. ="208" means target market 208. <>"" means the field has a value.
  7. Set When to Computed.
  8. In Value, enter what to store when the check is true. A field id copies that field. A formula can calculate it.
  9. Choose Save.

Set When to When created if the value should be filled in only when the product is created. The field stays editable after that.

You can fill in more than one Own block. A block with no unit type ticked is not used.
