How to export into an Excel template

An export profile can write the export into a workbook you supply. The data is placed on one sheet in that file.

  1. Open Setup, then Export profiles (Excel and API).
  2. Open the profile and choose Edit. See Creating and Maintaining Excel Profiles for the fields in the profile.
  3. Under Template, choose the Excel file in File.
  4. In Name of Excel sheet for data, type the sheet tab name exactly as it appears in Excel.
  5. Choose Save.

An export with this profile uses your workbook. On the named sheet, the first row is the field ids, the second row is the labels, and each following row is a product. Those rows replace what was already on the sheet. Other sheets in the file are left as they are.
